Pond Clean Out, Ashford

We received a telephone call from this customer in Wye, Ashford regarding her pond in need of a clean out and freshen up ready for the spring. We booked a date for a site visit the following week to go and take a look. When we arrived we went through everything the customer would like done to the pond, this included the pond to be cleaned out as it hadn’t been done in over 5 years, for the plants to be heavily trimmed as being almost 90 years of age she was struggling to do it herself now and to also completely remove a select few of the plants. She also asked if it was possible to move the filter as she felt with the filter’s yellow accents on the filter housing it was a bit of an eye sore. Once we had all the information we needed, we went offered a quote for the work which she was happy with and we booked the job.

We arrived on the proposed day of the clean and the first thing we did was set up our temporary holding pool to transition the Fish into, this pond was home to an ever-growing group of Goldfish with varying ages on display from last years babies all the way to 10+ year old adult Goldfish. Once all the Fish were out, we drained the pond and hoovered out all the sludge and silt, we then thoroughly rinsed the sides of the liner to then be followed by a final rinse. The plants were heavily trimmed, and dead headed as requested along with the selected plants removed in their entirety. The remaining plants consisted of a Lily, Iris and a contour planted basket with a Marsh Marigold, Variegated Rush and Water Mint. We then began to refill the pond shortly followed by returning the Fish back to their now clean home. The customer had previously asked if we could relocate the pond filter to a less intrusive spot which we also did. We dug it up and moved it around 2 metres over to the right of the pond, this way when the customer was sitting in her conservatory looking out into her garden, she could no longer see the filter. We took the opportunity to also replace the hosing on the filter and pump as it had become very brittle from the winters before. Both the filter and pump were also cleaned out and serviced during this scheduled work. The customer was very happy with the results and the pond was ready for the coming Spring
